Museum in 360 degrees
About the practice
People can browse through the museum, with a 360 virtual tour, by visiting the museum’s website. The aim is to promote the museum and the poet Angelos Sikelianos. As the museum has limited resources, this practice was created in order to reach out to more people via the internet.
About the institution
The Sikelianos house, which accommodates the homonym museum, is a special museum that not only exhibits memorabilia of the Alafroískïotos poet but also makes the visitor travel into every aspect of his life and works through a pioneering architectural and museological approach, work of a group of distinguished scientists.
A local museum enthusiast wanted to create this virtual tour of the museum, in order to improve its image and promote it in a more efficient way. This practice was implemented entirely based on this man’s efforts, wanting to promote the local history of his town.
Although the museum’s visitors during the summer are about 20 to 30 people per day, the virtual tour has more than 10,000 views.
The best practice is addressed to anyone who wants to visit the museum in the future or wants to learn more information about it.
This project was economically sustainable, as it was provided for free and easily replicable, using basic tools for 360 virtual tour creation.
The digital tools used for this practice were a professional camera, Lightroom, PhotoShop, and PD GUI.
The practice was provided for free, on a voluntary basis.
