360 Virtual Tour

360 Virtual Tour of Angelos Sikelianos Museum

About the practice

People can browse through the museum, with a 360 virtual tour, by visiting the museum’s website.

Story behind

A virtual tour of the famous poet’s house, which is now a museum dedicated to him.

About the institution

The Sikelianos house, which accommodates the homonym museum, is a special museum that not only exhibits memorabilia of the Alafroískïotos poet but also makes the visitor travel into every aspect of his life and works through a pioneering architectural and museological approach, work of a group of distinguished scientists.

Context

A local museum enthusiast wanted to create this virtual tour of the museum, to improve its image and promote it more efficiently. This practice was implemented entirely based on this man’s efforts, wanting to promote the local history of his town.

Location

Nationwide

Success factors

The aim is to promote the museum and the poet Angelos Sikelianos. As the museum has limited resources, this practice was created to reach out to more people via the internet.

Target audience

The best practice is addressed to anyone who wants to visit the museum in the future or wants to learn more information about it. Although the museum’s visitors during the summer are about 20 to 30 people per day, the virtual tour has more than 10,000 views.

Sustainability

This project was economically sustainable, as it was provided for free and easily replicable, using basic tools for 360 virtual tour creation.

Digital tools

The digital tools used for this practice were a professional camera, Lightroom, PhotoShop, and PD GUI.

Funding

The practice was provided for free, voluntarily.

Plans

This project managed to increase the online presence of the museum substantially and works on leveraging the impact in the next season.
